hello!

I have been writing my entire life, from silly storybooks created in grammar school to having notebooks filled with random ideas and bits of dialogue and actions, but began writing actively in March 2000. Everything I have learned about writing has come from my avid reading habit. I can attribute much of what I practice today to too many authors to list, but can currently thank J.R.R. Tolkien for the need for descriptive back stories and character development, Gail Carson Levine for her magic and fairytales, Garth Nix for the guilty pleasure and satisfaction of something deliciously dark, to Jane Austen for her witty banter, to Charlotte Bronte for the hidden secret in the attic, and the list goes on. I discovered the joys and hardships of online role-playing in mid-2005.

At the moment, I am content with threading. I like to take my time figuring out and writing what I believe to be the perfect response and with AIM, I feel I am slightly limited on that aspect. It's a one shot, you got it type of deal. I also have a limited attention span and would rather use my AIM scening capabilities for the communities I am in. However, if you wish to discuss a storyline with me, either comment, send me a private message, or if I am on the screenname I use for this journal, send me a message at upchuck alphabet.

I write in third-person, storybook. I am most comfortable in that tense and will not conform to any other tense. Generally, if I'm starting a scene, the word count will be from 300-700 words, depending on the nature of the scene, but I'm not terribly worried about word count if your response has everything you need to get across. QUALITY is better than QUANTITY, always. I also tend to match what other people have given me. Superflous writing is not for me. I'm concise and my instructors have always praised me on that. You won't be getting "her cerulean blue colored orbs gazed toward the bright, wonderful heavens as she raised her arms and spread her dainty digits to absorb the warm, welcoming sunlight" from me. Seriously, people. You can get and give the same magic in fewer words. If you're looking for examples, just ask and they will be provided! Sex is okay by me if it is crucial to the storyline. Writing sex for just the sake of having it is fine with other people, but not for me. However, I am more than happy with letting it fade to black. I do not write slash or femme. It's not that I'm against it, it's just that I don't feel up to par with such storylines. Also, no incest or bestiality. Storyline ideas I have thought of and would like to write out are in a cut tag below this mess.

If you're wondering who I play, anyone! Well, nearly. I usually shy away from over-used faces. Let's be fresh and somewhat original! But for a quick shot, take a look at my icons (I am still working on them, however!)! On a side note: I am not against "scene kids" or "originals" if they are written well. My characters tend to be either and/or completely oblivious, bastards, assholes, strong-willed, intelligent, geeks, nerds, musically inclined, worldly, and a few other adjectives I can't think of right now. I find it hard to write someone completely stupid, a push over, or generally weak. Everyone has soft spots, a weakness or two, and I try my hardest not to make my characters perfect in every way. Flaws are beautiful.

If the thread hasn't been replied to in about two weeks or more without prior notification, I will consider it dead. I'm fairly lenient, and I hope you are too, so please, take your time in replying. If you decide you don't want to write with me, that's cool too. Either let me know by a comment or just let the thread die. I won't go psycho on you as I'm well aware that some writers do not click with each other. At the moment, my days off are Wednesdays and Thursdays, so my replies will most likely be done during that time.
